About Grand Rapids Coffee Roasters

A new venture for Grand Rapids Coffee Roasters - bee keeping with Passionate Beeing. Our friends, Rita & Randy have been keeping bees since 2018 and asked if we would be interested in learning more about beekeeping. We said of course and helped them harvest this year's honey on their property in August. For more information, see below written by Randy: Passionate Beeing was started by helping friends harvest honey for two years and hundreds of hours of research into why we should start a bee apiary. In 2018, we decided to give bees a try but within certain guidelines. One, stay small, it would be the only way we could keep our bees wholesome and healthy. Two, research, research, research. We started attending Michigan Beekeeper meetings and learning from experts at MSU. In addition, we partnered with a mentor with over 60 years of beekeeping experience. Third, utilize help wherever possible and share our knowledge with others. The outcome of these guidelines was an environmentally friendly and happy apiary that produced all-natural wildflower honey. Our honey is not processed in any way other than filtering out unwanted material such as beeswax. We also build all out our own hive equipment using recycled products. Our bees forage on acres of wetlands behind our house and around Blodgett lake.
