This is why our eggs are priced as they are: we have a heritage breed housed in specialized infrastructure that requires labor to move every single day. The benefit to you is a better egg. Nutrition Breed matters. Studies show that heritage chickens produce more nutrient-dense products compared to industry genetics even when both are raised on pasture. That's 3.5x more omega-3 fats, 75% lower omega- : omega-3 ratio, 3.5x higher poly- unsaturated: saturated fats, 4x more vitamin D, 2.8x more vitamin E, 4.7x more B-carotene. I'm happy to share the bibliography. Certified organic feed Reduce your exposure to environmental toxins. Certified organic is always non-GMO and (bonus!) is free from glyphosate residue, plus all the ____cides that kill the soil microbes. Healthy soil = healthy eggs. Reasonable roaming The chickens are safe from predators and free to roam within their enclosure. They get to eat grasshoppers, praying mantis, and other bugs, further enhancing the nutritional profile. Happy chickens = tasty eggs. Do the chicken dance Our chickens' enclosure is moved every single day in the summer. This protects the soil in the pasture from overuse, keeps the hens off their own manure, and ratchets up the health benefits for everyone involved. Our eggs are unwashed due to our fancy roll-out nesting boxes (remember the specialized infrastructure?)
