Garlic Scapes, 1/2# (#16831)
Garlic Scapes are the green shoots produced by hardneck garlic. There is only one shoot produced by each plant. These are only available for a period of 2 to 3 weeks. There are approximately 40 scapes per 1/2 pound. Garlic Scapes have a mild garlic flavor and the texture is sort of like asparagus. Fresh ones can be added to stir fry or turned into pesto. These are great pickled and in Kimchi. They also freeze well.
