About Us

We are located about half-way between Holland and Grand Haven. We’ve been farming part-time since 1988, and full-time since 1996.

Our Practices

We farm biologically, paying careful attention to the soil and its health. “Healthy soil, healthy plants, healthy people.” Since 2010, our crops have been certified organic through Global Organic Alliance.

Highlights

We raise several types of beans, including some heirloom varieties. The open-pollinated corn we grow is stone-ground locally for corn meal and grits/polenta. Our sheep flock consists of about 100 Polypay ewes. The wool from our sheep is processed at a Michigan mill, and we sell it as yarn, roving for spinning, and bedding.

Misc.

In his spare time, Mike likes to make wool socks with his antique circular sock knitting machine. He also loves to kayak, and built his first wood-strip kayak during the winter of 2010-11. Lona is a weaver, and spends too much time on the computer.
